The Northumberland Coast AONB was established in 1958 to protect the special coastal landscape between Berwick-Upon-Tweed and the River Coquet estuary. The Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is managed by the Northumberland Coast AONB Partnership and Northumberland County Council. The policies affecting a potential development site in the Northumberland Coast AONB are found in the adopted Local Plan (available on the Local Planning Authority website), the National Planning Policy Framework, and, if relevant, the neighbourhood plan (not all locations are covered by a neighbourhood plan).
